Revolution Performing Arts
We started Revolution Performing Arts (RPA) in 2007 with 4 children, with a mission to provide affordable access to performing arts to all young people.
Now in 2016, we work with over 400 young people every week aged from 18 months to 16 years from a wide variety of backgrounds. RPA strives to provide
a fun environment for young people, to build their confidence, boost their self esteem and develop their individual artistic potential! All elements of the
sessions are child centred and there is no pressure to perform. Just relax, absorb yourself in the arts, enjoy and have a good time.
RPA, based in
Swindon, Wiltshire concentrates its funded work in the most socially deprived wards and societal groups. RPA produce three public shows a year from their
twilight activities to family and friends. Each performance has approx. 120 performers and 500 audience members across the community. Each
performance produces 20 pieces of work from the children. We provide services to EOTAS (Education Other Than in School) which includes the
hospital school at the Great Western Hospital and Stratton Education Centre Pupil Referral Unit.

We work with ‘looked after’ Children in Care and the
children at Swindon Women’s Aid Refuge, providing a sense of escape from trauma. We also provide a family support morning to encourage autistic young
people and their parents to experience the arts and network with each other. We work in partnership with Create Studios and Prime Theatre and will continue to do so on this project.

Our project involves producing a multi genre anti bullying project with approx. 38 young people aged 11-16 years to support them to produce their own artistic work. They will showcase this work in an event at the end of the project. The combined live and filmed theatre element will be held in November 2016 at St Joseph's College, Swindon and the filmed theatre element will be performed at a showcase in Cineworld, Swindon in September 2017 with a combined audience of approximately 1000 people. We would like support with the film aspect of the project and for it to be delivered by our working partner, Create Studios. The film will be hosted on the company’s website.
Rapport started in 2012 and have been working with this intake, weekly, since Sept 2015. Working on multi genre experiences they now wish to consolidate
their artistic creations into film. Create Studios agreed to work with RPA and the young people were chosen from individual need and artistic desire. They
chose anti bullying as a theme and to consider how it can be further emphasised through film. Working in front of and behind the camera, Create
will show Rapport how to use digital media within a performance project from their own ideas.

Media professionals experienced in mentoring young people
will explore how film can be used to complement and convey a story whilst also being expressed through street & contemporary dance; theatre; singing and
rap. Drawing these together into a multi-media performance to convey their own feelings as well as helping others. Participants will learn planning,
technical, filming and editing skills using cameras, sound recording, photography and storyboarding. These skills will offer an alternative to the
performance roles within the wider project, and be inclusive of different levels of skill & confidence. The project involves a live production element to perform with the digital film projection in November 2016 at St Joseph’s College to 500 people, that will be shown on its own as well as part of a showcase. The documented project will then have a feature page on the RPA and Create Studios websites and can be shared via social media and linked to other anti-bullying resources online.

We are also delighted to be working in partnership with Commonweal School. RPA share a similar ethos in that the school's objectives of raising awareness of social issues, increasing empathy with others and promoting personal development are at the core of RPA Rapport's ethos.
