25 years ago I met the woman of my dreams and together we threw caution to the wind, rode the roller-coaster of life with the care-free happy-go-lucky attitude towards life that we were brought up with and would inevitably bestow upon our own children. This series of photographs encapsulate that free spirit which all children yearn for but in todays modern world find it difficult to express such freedom. Governed by health and safety issues at the turn of every corner, some parents find it far easier to have their children safely and comfortably behind the blue screen of a tablet or gaming console rather than acquiring minor cuts and bruises from scrambling through brambles or sliding down gravel slopes on innovatively made sledges from discarded road signs. Whilst my children were sliding down a brilliant wet and muddy embankment a group of adults and children passed by whereupon one child had asked his mother if he could join in the fun. To my horror and utter amazement the mother took hold of the boys hand and exclaimed, "Of course not, you'll get absolutely filthy" and had the boy regimentally march onwards adorned in pristine wellies.............
